Parent's Day

Just outside a car service station near the school is a jeep with all it's windows smashed out. The front windshield has been taken to town and the two side windows no longer exist. The back window clearly shows the shape of a bat being used to inflict all these damages. There are several reasons why this may be.

The work of a short tempered gangsters looking for a return on a loan.

The work of a short tempered jealous lover, probably a female.

The work of a short tempered parent not getting a bouquet of carnations from their kids on parents day.

Today is Parent's Day and the past couple of days the kids have been busy at work doing origami and making carnations for their parents. For those not in school outside every subway station there are tiny baskets of real carnations for sale. Almost every shop wants in on this action and street food stalls, convenience stores and even cosmetic stores all have cheap flowers for sale. With the number of baskets for sale if I were a parent I too would be worked up if a son or daughter forgot to get me something. There are litterally thousands of baskets for sale but shops don't have to worry too much about excess stock.

Next week is teachers day and by changing a printed ribbon the flowers have one more chance of being bought up. This is when we get them (public school teachers miss out on the good gifts) and two days later they die and have to chuck them out.
